Fashioning Art and Legacy: Celebrating the Journey of Andrew Gn

London, UK - After an illustrious career spanning 28 years, revered fashion designer Andrew Gn, known for his exquisite designs and impeccable craftsmanship, has made an exciting announcement. In an exclusive interview with a leading fashion publication, Gn revealed his decision to step back from the fashion world and refocus his energy on his passion for art and creating a lasting legacy.

Gn expressed, "It is a very long time and I think that I’m at the really high point of my career, having done a lot and worked very hard for my company. So I’d like to really use this opportunity to step back, enjoy my life, and see what happens."

As a medium-small, yet highly profitable luxury house, Andrew Gn has been a highly sought-after brand in the global fashion industry. The label boasts an impressive roster of 75 to 80 prestigious stockists worldwide, including esteemed retailers like Net-a-porter, Neiman Marcus, Harrods, Bergdorf Goodman, Moda Operandi, Saks, and Matchesfashion.

Gn's decision to step back is motivated by a desire to maintain his creative independence and integrity, a trait that he deeply treasures. He firmly believes in the value of artistry and craftsmanship over the allure of fast fashion, declaring, "Keeping my name and independence is something I treasure. I don't believe in it."

While wholesale accounted for 70 percent of the business, Andrew Gn's own retail space and e-commerce site have proven successful avenues for selling their accessories and ready-to-wear collections. In addition, the brand's Paris-based salon has flourished as clients sought personalized experiences during the pandemic through one-to-one appointments.

The fashion industry has responded to Gn's decision with a mix of emotions. Linda Fargo, senior vice president of fashion at Bergdorf Goodman, expressed her appreciation for Gn's refined aesthetic and extraordinary talent, stating, "There will be an unfillable void in our offering without him."

Elizabeth von der Goltz, a renowned executive in the fashion industry, echoed Fargo's sentiment, expressing her joy for Gn to embark on this new chapter in his life. She commended his passion, effort, and hard work, which he poured into the brand, and expressed excitement for Gn's retrospective exhibition, "Andrew Gn: Fashioning Singapore and the World," which will travel to various museums in the United States and Asia in the coming years.

Looking ahead, Gn's plans extend beyond the world of fashion. He intends to establish his own foundation, driven by his deep passion for collecting art and supporting emerging talent. Gn envisions a space where young designers can seek guidance and learn the intricacies of running a successful fashion business. He emphasized, "I learned the hard way that the most difficult thing, other than being creative and evolving all the time, is running your own business."

As Gn embarks on this new chapter, his fans and industry insiders eagerly anticipate the upcoming projects and creative endeavors that lie ahead for this Renaissance man. Although bidding farewell to his career in fashion, Gn has expressed that this is merely the beginning of a new chapter filled with fresh opportunities.

This announcement undoubtedly marks an au revoir rather than an adieu, paving the way for Andrew Gn's enduring presence in the art world. The years to come will be dedicated to exhibiting his extensive collection of artworks and embracing new ventures that bring him joy and fulfillment.
