Recall Alert: Ashley Furniture Sofas and Recliners Pose Fire Risk


A series of products from Canadian company Ashley Furniture Industries LLC is currently under recall due to potential fire hazards, prompting concerns among consumers.


According to a safety alert issued by the Government of Canada on Friday, Ashley power loveseats, sofas, and recliners equipped with LED cup holders may be at risk of malfunctioning after prolonged use. The alert warns that this malfunction could result in overheating, potentially leading to a fire.


While no reports of consumer incidents or injuries in Canada have been received as of May 31, 2023, the Government advises consumers to take immediate action. Those who own the recalled products are urged to unplug them without delay and contact Ashley Furniture for free repairs.


The safety alert notes that in the United States, Ashley Furniture has received six reports of incidents related to these products, including fires, smoke damage, and damage to furniture with LED cup holders. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in these cases.


The recall specifically involves products from the Signature Design by Ashley Furniture Industries, LLC Party Time Loveseats, Sofas, and Recliners. These items are identified as being at potential risk, necessitating a swift response from consumers to address the safety concern.


Ashley Furniture Industries LLC has not only cooperated with the recall but is also committed to providing free repairs to rectify the identified issues.
